Do you want to make a real difference for citizens and entrepreneurs in Älvsbyn Municipality?

Are you looking for a strategic role focusing on central community building issues that are crucial for the municipality's future growth? Then this could be your next step in development.

About the role

As the Head of Community Building, you will lead an operational area responsible for community planning, business development, and regulatory activities related to building permits and environmental and health protection. The operational area consists of 12 experienced and responsible employees.

In this role, you have an overarching and strategic responsibility for creating good conditions for the municipality's long-term development. You will work on issues related to growth, establishments, attractive community planning, and a strengthened business climate, with a clear focus on sustainable development—economically, socially, and environmentally.

Collaboration is a central part of the assignment. You will work closely with the municipality's other operations, the political organization, the local business community, neighboring municipalities, and other external actors. Through dialogue, collaboration, and clear governance, you contribute to developing and managing the municipality's community building and business issues in a long-term and sustainable manner.

As a manager, you lead and develop the operations through a present and trust-based leadership style. You create structure and direction, provide good conditions for your employees to succeed in their assignments, and continuously drive development and improvement work within the operational area.

You will be part of the municipality's management team and, together with other managers, share a common responsibility for the municipality's overall strategic development. The role involves close dialogue with the political leadership, primarily the municipal executive board and the environmental and building committee. You report directly to the municipal chief.

Your profile

We are looking for a confident, unpretentious, and development-oriented leader with an academic background and broad experience in community building and/or business-related issues. You have worked both strategically and operationally and have experience in leadership positions where you have been responsible for driving operations and development forward.

We want you to have previous experience in the community building area and knowledge in the areas included in the operations, such as community planning, business development, and regulatory activities. You do not need to be an expert in all areas, but you should have a good overall understanding and the ability to grasp complex issues.

You thrive in a role with many contact points and possess good social skills. You are skilled at collaborating, building long-term relationships, and creating trust, both internally in the organization and in collaboration with politicians, businesses, and other external actors. Your ability to network and communicate professionally in both spoken and written form is an important asset in this role.

As a leader, you are present, trustworthy, and clear. You create engagement and participation by utilizing your employees' diverse competencies and getting the team to work towards common goals. You have the ability to make decisions that move the organization forward, even in situations that may be complex or challenging, and you work solution-oriented with a focus on opportunities rather than obstacles.

You have knowledge of regulatory activities and experience working in a politically governed organization. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities and your leadership style, as leadership is crucial for the continued development of the operations.
